Artist Thoughts:
What is art to me? It is all around us, everyday. The shimmer of sunlight, the look in someone's eye, the glimpse of something you see everyday - but today it looks different, new, exciting. I believe art is a form of love. Who is an artist? I believe we all are; we just express it in different ways.
There is an emotional connection for me during the drawing or painting process, moments where I am lost entirely in the moment of creating – lost in the ‘love’! It is a process of being lost and found, a wonderful journey that pays no attention to time or space.
I am fascinated with color and light. The way light can change things and create thousands of dimensions. Incredible! This is one of the many reasons I have chosen watercolor as my medium. It is so luminous and brilliant - and uncontrollable. It's impossible to control it completely - it demands your openness and a whimsical nature. I find it continually charming, and never boring.
Professionally, you might say I am just beginning my 'career' as an artist; though I have been one for as long as I can remember. I still have some of my first drawings and paintings, a reminder of how far I've come as far as technique; but also how far I have to go as far as confidence. Children never second-guess themselves, they just know. As adults, we get too wrapped up in what's right and wrong.
I have a wonderful, supportive husband that, lucky for me, is a computer genius. I have one son that is the most awesome kid in the world. Watch out folks, he is going to be the next big thing in Hollywood. I also have two insane Boston Terriers that like to 'help' in my studio.
My hope is that through my artwork, I can create a connection with the viewer. My heart beats through on every piece, every stroke, and every color. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy creating them.
